Remembering Audrey Swan: A Retrospective of Her Work in Wool

Arts at the Palace is pleased to host the first art exhibition at Hamilton Center for the Arts at 16 Broad Street! We are proud to continue the legacy of Hamilton Center For The Arts as both a fine arts gallery, and community arts center and teaching space.

On Saturday, August 15, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., join the family of Audrey Swan for a retrospective celebrating her work in wool.

Audrey Swan lived in Central New York for most of her life and began rug hooking in the early 2000s. She spent countless hours thrifting for wool, hand-dyeing it, and then carefully cutting, stripping, and hooking the fabric into rugs, pillows, wall hangings, and accessories. Over her lifetime, Audrey created more than 200 pieces, many of which were sold through gallery exhibitions and at the Hamilton Farmers Market, where she maintained a regular booth.

A gifted fiber artist, Audrey's creativity brought beauty to those around her, and she found great joy in tending her gardens. Whether quilting, sewing, rug hooking, or caring for her flowers, Audrey's gentle spirit and artistic talents reflected her deep love of home and family.

Audrey Swan, born Adrianna Jeanette Romyn, passed away on June 30, 2026.

Light refreshments will be served. Audrey's family hopes you will join them in celebrating her life and admiring the beautiful works she leaves behind. If you'd care to bring a piece you have purchased or been gifted from Audrey to share, you are more than welcome.
